Julie Marks is the Founder and Executive Director of the Vermont Short-Term Rental Alliance (VTSTRA)–a nonpartisan grassroots advocacy association for the vacation rental community of Vermont.
As an independent short-term rental host, Julie has been advocating for homeowners’ right to short-term rent since unreasonable regulations first threatened her livelihood in 2019. Since founding VTSTRA in 2021, Julie has become nationally known as a leader in grassroots organizing for the vacation rental industry and has served on the VRMA Government Affairs Committee since 2022.
When she’s not testifying before the Legislature or cleaning toilets, Julie can be found in one of her three gardens or on a tropical beach escaping Vermont winters.
Julie holds a Bachelor’s in Environmental Science and a Master’s in Environmental Health. She lives in the woods of Jericho, Vermont with her husband, Kris.
