One year ago, the Right to Rent Collaborative (R2RC) set out to answer a simple question: What would it look like if short-term rental advocacy had stable funding, real infrastructure, and national coordination behind it?
Today, we are proud to share our First Year of Impact Report, which captures what we built in 2025 and what it makes possible next.
What we built in year one
Strong foundations – In our inaugural year, R2RC established the governance, systems, and grantmaking structure needed to support state and local STR advocacy for the long term.
Real reach – In 2025, 18 state and local short-term rental associations qualified for participation, representing nearly 4,000 STR owners and property managers nationwide.
Clear demand – We received 21 grant applications totaling $649,187, signaling both the urgency of the work and the need for sustained funding.
Targeted impact – Following a structured review process, 10 grants were awarded across nine associations, directing resources where they could make an immediate and meaningful difference.

Turning reservations into advocacy funding
This year also marked a major milestone for the Right to Rent Program (R2RP).
We completed the core systems needed to support national participation and property manager enrollment at scale, creating an easy, automated way to fund advocacy.

Here’s how R2RP works:
- Property managers enroll by connecting their PMS and adding payment information
- A $2-per-reservation donation is calculated automatically
- Monthly invoices are generated based on completed reservations
- Credit card autopay turns advocacy support into a true easy button
The result is simple but powerful: routine reservations become sustained funding for the advocacy groups protecting the right to rent.
Industry-wide participation makes the impact possible
R2RC does not lobby or take policy positions. Instead, we fund the people and organizations doing that work on the ground. Our success is not measured by a single bill, but by whether STR owners and property managers have credible, organized representation in every state and community. That only happens with broad participation from across the industry.
How to get involved:
- Property Managers: Enroll in the Right to Rent Program and turn every reservation into consistent advocacy support.
- Vendors & OTAs: Support R2RC financially to help scale industry support across your markets.
- Associations & Advocates: Become a Qualified Association Member and start receiving support from R2RC!
Thank you to everyone who made this first year possible. What we built together in 2025 is just the beginning.
Our next round of grants will be awarded in March 2026. Stay tuned for more!
Sincerely,
Julie Marks President,
Right to Rent Collaborative
